The Course of Veterinary Medicine of UCB aims to train professional qualified to perform the activities related to the veterinarian, as has the Law 5517/68. This work should promote the construction of knowledge through content specific conceptual and practical activities, aimed at preparing the foundation for a general education, comprehensive and eclectic, with expertise in this area, with ethics training, critical view along the ability to reassess its potential performance, developing actions on animal health, animal production, food and environmental protection; It also aims to develop actions of prevention, promotion, protection and rehabilitation of health, quality and critical thinking, seeking solutions in individual and collective level, being based on science, with capacity for assessment so that can make decisions and lead teams, seeking the welfare of the community, by training their entrepreneurial vision and management capacity and expression in correct language Portuguese, being committed to citizenship, due to social demands and conscious of the need for constant improvement.

Classes are geared to meet the needs of professional training to be supported in the teacher as facilitator and mediator of the teaching-learning process favoring the construction of knowledge. On this principle there was in the structure of the course of Veterinary Medicine University of Castelo Branco the need for deployment of nuclei formed by the faculty to develop with the support of the joint coordination between education research and extension as follows:
Center for Extension: develops along the course and scope of community projects implementing routines of work in strategic areas such as public health / preventive veterinary medicine and animal production technology inspection of animal products breeding clinical pathology clinical pathology and surgery in addition to the development of veterinary programs with the rural community. This core consists of a permanent team of teachers who are responsible for planning and overseeing the creation of extension activities.

Nucleus Research: aims to stimulate the development of scientific initiation with effective participation of faculty and students. The results of true scientific congresses seminars in weeks publications in journals and magazines among other techniques. The center also promotes interaction with public and private bodies to promote the research and coordinate the creation of a scientific journal of veterinary research publications with UCB in that institution.

It is the faculty dean of the University of León. It was the first university and the first University Center in the city of León. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has modern facilities for teaching and research. It was the first of the Spanish to be evaluated on the quality of education imparted by experts of the Advisory Committee on Veterinary Training (CCFV) of the European Union (EU), stressing in his report, inter alia, quality faculty, the pilot installation of food technology, management of the farm and the research. The Undergraduate Anthropology Program emphasizes the commitment of this department to four-field anthropology, providing exposure to Ethnology, Archeology, Linguistic and Biological Anthropology. As a discipline, anthropology investigates both the biological and the sociocultural aspects of humanity in all its diversity. This holistic approach serves Anthropology’s intellectual goal to achieve a comprehensive and comparative understanding of humanity.

Anthropology can be an important component of a liberal education, complementing a wide variety of fields. While the undergraduate concentration program provides an excellent foundation for more advanced work in anthropology, it is not intended to be solely a preprofessional program. Many of our concentrators pursue advanced degrees in other disciplines, such as law, medicine, social work, public health and history. Others find a concentration or coursework in anthropology helpful in government service or in a variety of international organizations and businesses. A number of our concentrators choose to combine an anthropology concentration with a second field of study. We also offer minors in the sub-disciplines of anthropology. Course fees:

For entry in September 2009, the tuition fees are £5,800 per annum for home/EU students and £15,500 per annum for international students.

Scholarships/sponsorships:

UK and EU applicants who obtain at least an Upper Second class honours degree are eligible for Research Council studentships funded by the MRC. These studentships are only available to applicants planning to work on Integrative Biology projects.

Academic entry qualification overview:

The standard entry requirement for PhD study is a First or Upper Second class honours degree, or the overseas equivalent, in a relevant subject. In certain circumstances, a Lower Second class honours degree supplemented by a Masters degree, or appropriate relevant work experience, may be acceptable.

English language:

For PhD applicants whose first language is not English an IELTS score of 6.5, TOEFL 577 (paper based), TOEFL 233 (computer based) or TOEFL 90 (internet based) is required as a minimum.
