Our Veterinary Biosciences programme provides excellent training for students intending to work in laboratories related to animal science. It also provides a broad education in the biosciences, including the interface between human and veterinary medicine, for those with interests in veterinary sciences who may then go on to work in a wide variety of fields. It does not provide recognised training for those wishing to practise as a vet, although it may be suitable as an entry point for such a recognised programme.
Our modular programme structure provides a broad range of skills in your first year that ensure a solid foundation on which to build for your specialisation in the final year. Transfer between this and other programmes in the biological sciences is usually possible at this stage.
Your second year combines further studies in fundamental sciences with some specialised animal science modules. The optional professional training year, after your second year, will complement your academic knowledge and enhance your employment prospects upon completion of your degree. Your final year consists of core modules in specialised aspects of animal science, combined with a choice of a wide range of optional modules, together with a research project conducted in one of our own research laboratories or, subject to arrangement, neighbouring research institutes.

Veterinary Sciences and the Animal Science have combined their efforts to offer B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in animal and veterinary sciences (see listing under this title). Several options within the major are available including preveterinary medicine and animal biology. Undergraduate course offerings of the Department of Veterinary Sciences are listed under the title of pathobiology. They were designed to familiarize students with the principles of animal disease and the basic biological and biomedical sciences.
The department operates the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory, an animal disease diagnostic laboratory. This laboratory provides valuable hands-on experience for students interested in laboratory animal care, laboratory procedures, and research. Excellent faculty advisers are available for students interested in preveterinary medicine, microbiology, and animal biology.
Students interested in graduate degree programs involving research in domestic and wildlife disease problems or parasitology should consult the Graduate Bulletin.

Depending on the experience of natural regionalization of Lato Sensu postgraduate-level expertise, the Center for Science Agroveterinárias University of Santa Catarina State, through the course of Veterinary Medicine, we bring together the critical mass of researchers who had been developing research projects alone, in the master program with different lines of research, whereas the courses of Veterinary Medicine, the state of Santa Catarina no post-graduate course in strict sense.
The proposal referred for evaluation of CAPES was approved in November 2002 with the first entering class in March 2003. The course originally had five lines of research, called: 1) epidemiology, diagnosis and control of parasites, 2) Veterinary Pathology, 3) Food, production, and animal behavior, 4) Improvement and animal breeding, and 5) Study of bacterial diseases and Viral of the animals. The growth and maturity Course and an indication of consultants from CAPES, determined a new direction, with criteria for accreditation of teacher mentors, creating two areas of concentration, the reduction from five to four lines of search, now with more support and the opening of the course for professionals from other areas related to Agricultural Sciences and related areas, enabling the venting, providing greater integration and multidisciplinary, current trend in post-graduate, both in Brazil and the world . Thus, in April 2007 the course has called Animal Science.
