Veterinary Degrees Online

At IPFW, you may complete the four-semester preveterinary curriculum, which includes the minimum requirements for admission into the baccalaureate degree program in veterinary technology at the West Lafayette campus of Purdue University.

The distance-learning program leads to an associate degree from Purdue University while taking all required courses either at the IPFW campus, via distance learning and Web instruction, or in collaboration with local designated clinical mentors and/or veterinarians in the surrounding counties.

All veterinary schools require applicants to have taken undergraduate courses in chemistry, biology, mathematics, and physics. Exact requirements vary from school to school. Admission is highly competitive and is based on several factors including GPA (with an emphasis on required courses), scores on the Veterinary Aptitude Test and interview. The State of North Dakota has agreements with a number of veterinary schools reserving openings for North Dakota residents, and the state pays a portion of the tuition. Students planning to seek tuition support from North Dakota for an out-of-state school should notify both the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education and their Dickinson State University adviser. The Bachelor of Science degree in Aquaculture is an interdisciplinary program coordinated by the School of Marine Sciences. The Aquaculture curriculum is designed to provide the student with a broad background in the biological sciences, as well as to provide a thorough understanding of the subjects required to produce and market aquatic organisms and the products derived from them.
The program offers two main areas of concentration: aquaculture technology and aquaculture science. Each program offers a well-rounded education in mathematics, physical and biological sciences, resource economics and business, as well as humanities and social sciences.
The aquaculture technology concentration provides an unique background for solving practical problems associated with aquaculture and allied industries. The aquaculture science concentration allows for a more in-depth study of the biology of aquatic organisms and ecosystems with an emphasis on aquaculture applications. Students can also obtain the minimum course requirements for American Fisheries Service Professional Certification through the science concentration.

The Animal and Veterinary Sciences curriculum is designed to provide a broad biological training as well as a thorough understanding of the breeding, diseases, genetics, management, nutrition and physiology of large animals, and laboratory and companion animals. Animal and Veterinary Sciences courses also serve as elective opportunities for students in other agricultural and life sciences, and in other colleges. This department administers the Pre-Veterinary program and provides an opportunity for students to be certified to teach high school biology and agriculture.

The USC Upstate pre-speech/language pathology program is directed towards students interested in degree programs such as the Master of Speech Pathology (M.S.P.), Master of Communication Disorders (M.C.D.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) offered at the University of South Carolina-Columbia and the Communication Sciences and Disorders program offered at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston. USC Upstate offers a pre-speech/language pathology curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Science in Biology that meets both the USC and the MUSC admission requirements.

Your high school education is a very important part of our application process. We require that all incoming freshmen meet or exceed a minimum number of courses during high school. Another important part of the application is your test scores from the ACT or the SAT I.

Admitted students (including those transferring into UWP) are required to submit a $100 enrollment deposit as soon as possible to ensure a place in the freshmen class. The deposit is refundable until May 1st.
Do I Have To Take Tests?

We use standardized test results as one of our criteria for admission. The UW-System requires all new freshmen applicants to submit the results of either the ACT or SAT I for review. The ACT is our preferred test, however you will not be advantaged or disadvantaged in our admission process by taking either test.

If you are 25 years old or older, this requirement is waived.
If you are considering immediately enrolling into our general engineering program, you must have a mathematics ACT score of 22 or higher (SAT I 520 or higher). If you don’t meet this requirement, you will be placed in a pre-engineering program until you complete calculus and analytic geometry with a letter grade of “C” or higher.
If You Were Home Schooled

If you were home schooled, there are several things you must include with your application, in order to process your application properly:
official transcripts from any/all schools attended
transcript from courses taken at home and grades, signed by your parent who provided your education, to verify your curriculum.
official ACT/SAT score reports
other information related to the student’s activities
What If I Don’t Meet Your Traditional Admission Requirements?

If you don’t meet our traditional admission requirements, we still encourage you to apply for admission. Your application will be evaluated on an individual basis.

If you have met college preparatory unit requirements, have demonstrated a stronger academic performance later in your high school career, are socially or economically disadvantaged, have verifiable disabilities, have demonstrated academic promise, are a nontraditional aged student (25 and older), or have demonstrated significant leadership in your school or in the community, you may be considered for admission UW-Platteville. If this is the case, supporting letters of recommendation are required from selected teachers
Application Fee

An application fee of $44.00 is charged for every UW-System Undergraduate Application. If you are completing a paper application for admission, please include a check or money order for $44.00 with your application. If you submit an application on-line the $44.00 application fee may be charged to a credit card. Please note that if the application fee is not paid, the application will not be processed.
