Traditional Admission Requirements
The following materials are needed before a student may be accepted into Springfield College-Benedictine University. A student is responsible for having all credentials sent to the College. Your application will be considered for admission as soon as all of your credentials are received; students are notified of acceptance on a rolling basis.
Graduation from an accredited high school or completion of a General Education Development Certificate (GED).
Official transcript(s) from high school for freshman and transfer students with less than 20 transferable credit hours.

Admission for Bachelor’s, MSc & PhD programmes and for non-degree students.

English taught Bachelor’s programme

UMB has one bachelor’s programme for English speaking students: Development Studies. All applicants are required to meet NOKUT’s minimum requirements for admission to higher education in Norway. These requirements vary depending on the country in which you got your education. In addition, applicants need to document English language proficiency (more information below).

English taught Master of Science degree (MSc)

Applicants must normally have obtained a First Degree / Bachelor’s degree of at least 3 years duration, or its equivalent, including courses equalling 2 years of full-time studies in a subject relevant to that of the programme applied for. For programme-specific information, please select the relevant programme from our list of Study Options. At least 2nd Class, Upper Division or the equivalent is normally required to be included in the final selection for admission. In addition, applicants need to document English language proficiency (more information below).

Non-degree students
Students on the Erasmus Programme:

Guest students are accepted at all levels of study for a period of up to one year. We would like to emphasise that acceptance as a guest/exchange student is for a maximum of one year only and does not constitute admission to a regular degree programme.

All applicants are further required to document proficiency in the English language
Applicants whose first language is not English are normally obliged to provide the results of either the TOEFL test with a score of 170 (500 paper-based test) or better, or the IELTS test with a score of 5.0 or better.
