As part of advanced training is to develop depth of knowledge in specific areas, as well as the renovation, update, supplement the skills developed in students. It is also trying to acquire the skills that allow a higher level of performance and knowledge applied to the problems of organizations both public and private sectors in all fields of national activity.
Aimed at:

Professionals graduated in Veterinary Medicine (MV), or Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine (DVM) with professional experience, teaching or research in the area of emphasis selected.
Rationale:

Master’s degree in Veterinary Sciences seeks to become an option for advanced training and the changing industry practice, responding to the demands and needs. Its content takes into account the alien eyes, responds to the needs of our country, from the perspective of human development and sustainable, is directed towards the construction of knowledge, broadens the perspective of research and interaction with communities and scientific networks and options for socializing and sharing research and other academic products.

The mastery is in two groups of emphasis

- Playing in large animals.
- Internal Medicine and Surgery Small Animal

The contents of the program are presented by areas of training:
Discipline Area: Consists of courses which start closer to the emphasis of the program.
Emphasis Area: Includes the integration of theoretical and practical research processes.
Research Area: Comprised of four sequential workshops which foster the building of self-knowledge of veterinary science.
Area Electives: These courses complement the specific training and fostering the diversification theme, associated research topics.
Social Area: Orienta reflection on reality and on the professional intervention in the various fields of emphasis.
Objectives:
Update, broaden and deepen knowledge of Veterinary Sciences, typical of the area of animal breeding or medical clinic in the area, to be used and developed in the performance and professional investigation.
Strengthen skills in line with scientific advances and features, clinical and technological areas and fields of veterinary science, necessary for the management, care and preservation of animal health.
Train researchers who, through the integration of theoretical knowledge and practical techniques, can contribute to solving problems of veterinary science and teaching in the field.

Animal Health Degree at North West Frontier Province Agricultural University

Keeping view the importance of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Education the higher authorities of the University unanimously agreed to start composite DVM degree program. For this purpose the Department of Animal Health was created in 2004. The introduction of new degree program will broaden the job opportunity of our graduates both in public and private sectors, and will allow our students to compete with those of other universities.
Aims

To standardize uniform degree programs in Veterinary and Animal Husbandry over the entire country

To produce graduates with professional knowledge and skills compatible to jobs and development at the national and international level

To match the professional standards of degree programs in Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences to those required by the national regulatory bodies

Establishment of this Department was a pre-requisite for the five years composite DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) degree replacing the previous BSc Hons AH degree program. The requirement for admission in the DVM is FSc Pre-Medical subjects. Those admitted in the program have been on top of the merit as compared to other disciplines of the university. Since it started in January 2004, the third semester (DVM second profession) is in progress with around 40 students. This department with others runs the new program jointly. The program has been supported and recognized by the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council. The department plans to launch postgraduate degree programs by the times the required facilities are established.

Teaching facilities

The Department of Animal Health created to provide teaching and laboratory facilities. In the initial stages, collaboration was sought to have our students’ access to the laboratories of Veterinary Research Institute and Veterinary Hospitals of the province. A mega project entitled “Strengthening of Teaching and Research Capabilities of Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences” has been approved from HEC Islamabad and its implementation has already been started since September 2004. The award of construction of buildings including academic block, veterinary clinics and artificial insemination centers, semen production unit and breeding center is in process. The University is making every effort to ensure the completion of the project within the target time (June 2007).

Future vision

The Department envisions introducing postgraduate specialized degrees in the Animal Health by the time the essential teaching and research facilities are established. The department has visible linkages with the farmers, industrialists and development organizations within the country and abroad. Recently, a consultative group on livestock industry has been proposed and farmers included in the Departmental Board of Studies.

Zoology Degree at Rajshahi University of Engineering And Technology

Zoology had its origin in the Department of Botany in 1969-70. With the rapid advances in the field of animal science, it was felt necessary to extend it into an independent and full-fledged Department. Thus the Department of Zoology started functioning in the middle of 1972. Late Professor Dr. Mustafizur Rahman was appointed the first Headed. Since then the Department of has developed at a fast rate to its present state with a view to meeting the growing demand for trained personnel in the fields of classical as well as applied Zoology. Many changes have taken place over the last three decades.

Many of the ex-students have found careers in academic and research organizations, while other have already secured important positions in the public and private sectors of the country. The exchange of ideas between staff and students is encouraged through seminars where research findings are presented and discussed.

Post Graduation in Animal Science at Universidade Estadual Paulista

The post-graduate in Animal Science, Faculty of Dentistry, Course of Veterinary Medicine of UNESP – Campus de Araçatuba is to graduate professionals in higher education, graduates of institutions recognized national or foreign institutions as equivalent, with a profile consistent with the areas covered by the program. Aims at the training of teachers, researchers and practitioners, to meet the demands of public and private sectors. Their deployment in the Master’s level, occurred in March 2004. The act that authorized the operation of the course was the resolution UNESP-18, 18/03/2004. Also had their recognition by the Ministry of Education through the Ministerial Decree number 2878 of 24 August 2005.
