2.1 The Common Regulations for the Masters degree in all faculties of the University of Nairobi shall apply.
2.2 Those eligible for admission into the course shall be holders of the following degree awards of the University of Nairobi :
(a) Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine or Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with at least a credit in Veterinary Parasitology for B.V.M. candidates or equivalent for candidates from MBChB holders.
(b) Bachelor of Science with a minimum of an Upper-Second Class Honours and where Zoology as a major was offered as a course in the years of undergraduate programme.
2.3. Other candidates who have obtained degrees from other Universities approved by Senate as being equivalent to one of the degrees stated above.
This institution is managed by the teaching staff of the Department of Veterinary Science, and its business hours for outpatients are weekday mornings.Its medicare system is quite specialized and satisfactory. It is also used for educational purposes, and several students take lessons of small animals clinic in the 5th or 6th year held in this hospital.And every year students who have acquired excellent practical techniques here go out into the world.

Livestock farming is an industry which produces the necessities of life by the raising of farm animals and special animals. Animal products such as milk, meat, eggs, and honey are important foods for human life and health, and demand for them is increasing annually. Consequently, the improvement in quantity and quality of livestock and the development of high quality animal products are required. The Department of Animal Science aims to train excellent technologists who are able to work in the fields of livestock husbandry and also makes efforts to develop new animal resources and to use biotechnology for the improvement of animal productivity. The major subjects are Animal Breeding, Reproduction, Management, Feeds and Feeding, Nutrition, and Milk and Meat processing.
