The academic members of this faculty are very active in researching aspect and taking part in different congresses and seminars in the country and in foreign countries such as: England, Swiss, The Netherlands, France, Denmark, Canada, Turkey, Uruguay, India, Germany, Greek, South Africa, Russia and Tunisia. They also have published many articles in Persian and foreign magazines and have national, between universities and inter university researching plans some of them are finished and the others are under operation. The faculty has also a common international project with England and now is trying to sign a cooperation agreement with the important Veterinary faculties of the world.
10 years education development program:

In this program, the faculty is going to accept Ph.D students in the fields of midwifery, the diseases of livestock reproduction. Inner diseases of large animals, and veterinary surgery. These periods are acted in the education spreading supreme council. Also the university diploma of cow hygiene and breeding, horse hygiene and breeding, marine animals hygiene and breeding, birds hygiene and breeding small animals hygiene and breeding, pharmacology and control and eradicating the parasitic diseases are acted in the university council and are under act in the education spreading supreme council.
The faculty intends to accept students as special doctorate of microbiology, foods hygiene, bird diseases, veterinary pharmacology, veterinary anatomy, and also post graduation students of veterinary laboratory science in hematology, bacteriology, immunology and the study of leech.

The Veterinary Science Department provides advising services for students in the pre-veterinary medicine curriculum and offers courses in the biomedical sciences for undergraduate and graduate majors in related sciences. The department also offers several graduate research assistantship positions in microbiology, virology, and molecular biology for students majoring in other departments. Graduate training is supported by active research programs in diseases of food-producing animals.

South Dakota does not have a professional College of Veterinary Medicine. A pre-veterinary medicine curriculum is offered which allows students to obtain prerequisites for application to Colleges of Veterinary Medicine in other states. Students may meet requirements in two or three years of pre-veterinary study. Many students complete a major for the Bachelor of Science Degree before entering the professional curriculum of Veterinary Medicine. Many degree options are available to students in the pre-veterinary medicine curriculum, but popular choices include Animal Science, Biology, Microbiology, Dairy Science, or others. Students typically select a BS option late in their freshman year or during their sophomore year.

Entrance into the professional curriculum in a College of Veterinary Medicine rests with the individual applicant, and is based upon many factors including their academic record and experience. The applicant should be aware of the difficulties involved in being accepted to a College of Veterinary Medicine. Keen competition should be anticipated.

Integrated within the Department of Veterinary Science is the South Dakota Animal Disease Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (ADRDL). The ADRDL is one of 36 full-service veterinary diagnostic laboratories in the U.S. that is accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians. The ADRDL is a reference lab that investigates naturally occurring animal health problems. The lab receives over 20,000 submissions and conducts over 400,000 test procedures annually. The lab is the official test center for the SD Animal Industry Board and promotes animal agriculture commerce by performing required export testing. The lab is also integral to national disease eradication programs and serves public health by tracking zoonotic diseases.

Veterinary Sciences and the  Animal Science have combined their efforts to offer B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in animal and veterinary sciences (see listing under this title). Several options within the major are available including preveterinary medicine and animal biology. Undergraduate course offerings of the Department of Veterinary Sciences are listed under the title of pathobiology. They were designed to familiarize students with the principles of animal disease and the basic biological and biomedical sciences.

The department operates the Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory, an animal disease diagnostic laboratory. This laboratory provides valuable hands-on experience for students interested in laboratory animal care, laboratory procedures, and research. Excellent faculty advisers are available for students interested in preveterinary medicine, microbiology, and animal biology.

The mission of the Breathitt Veterinary Center (BVC) is to provide rapid, accurate diagnostic data that enables veterinarians to make appropriate treatment decisions. The BVC is part of an interdependent team composed of the animal owner, veterinarian, and diagnostic laboratory dedicated to the efficient production of safe animal products to the consumers of Kentucky. The BVC uses the latest scientific knowledge, equipment, and techniques to reduce losses from animal diseases and to promote animal health.

The BVC is fully accredited for all animal species by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD). The scientific disciplines of Pathology, Microbiology, Molecular Diagnostics, Toxicology, Serology, and Virology are provided in the facility. The lists on the following pages include most of the diagnostic procedures performed by the BVC. The BVC continually expands its testing capabilities and strives to incorporate advancements in scientific tests and equipment into its operations.
