A critical evaluation and appropriate use of surgical techniques will be addressed through presentations and discussions of clinical cases, and in practical classes students will have the opportunity to train and implement the main techniques discussed in class theoretical. In addition, the course aims to anesthetics prepare the student to select and implement appropriate anesthetic techniques to patients in various clinical conditions, promoting the recovery and conditioning the surgical procedures to the best possible prognosis.

The Course of Veterinary Medicine of UCB aims to train professional qualified to perform the activities related to the veterinarian, as has the Law 5517/68. This work should promote the construction of knowledge through content specific conceptual and practical activities, aimed at preparing the foundation for a general education, comprehensive and eclectic, with expertise in this area, with ethics training, critical view along the ability to reassess its potential performance, developing actions on animal health, animal production, food and environmental protection; It also aims to develop actions of prevention, promotion, protection and rehabilitation of health, quality and critical thinking, seeking solutions in individual and collective level, being based on science, with capacity for assessment so that can make decisions and lead teams, seeking the welfare of the community, by training their entrepreneurial vision and management capacity and expression in correct language Portuguese, being committed to citizenship, due to social demands and conscious of the need for constant improvement.

The special program for high school graduates is designed for qualified and motivated high school students who seek a career in veterinary medicine. The Integrated Pre Veterinary – Veterinary Program (INTEPREV) is an attempt to eliminate the sharp division between pre veterinary and veterinary education and also to shorten the time required for obtaining the Doctor of Veterinary (D.V.M) degree to six (6) years.

The program (INTEPREV) also allows the matriculation of students from around the world regardless of the individual variations of the educational system of their home country.

Students are selected for the program (INTEPREV) in the senior year of high school. There are no specific high school course requirements, but applicants are required to take either SAT, ACT or College Board examinations. Of great importance to the Admission Committee are such factors as interest in the humanities, sciences, evidence of intellectual curiosity and extracurricular activities.

The first year of the program is devoted to the study of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Composition, Medical Terminology and Spanish.

2.1 The Common Regulations for the Masters degree in all faculties of the University of Nairobi shall apply.
