Veterinary Medicine Degree at National Agricultural University
This training program has been developed on the basis of the training and professional program that leads to a university degree (qualification: “Specialist;” specialty code: 7.130501 Ч “Veterinary Medicine”). Structure and consent of the training program are subject to the Qualification Requirements for Specialist’s Degree. The Dean of Veterinary Medicine Department Richard Ross participated in adaptation of this curricula to the curricula of Iowa State University.
The training has been adjusted to the relevant training program in effect at the University of Iowa (USA).
The Specialist training normative section includes the following groups of disciplines: humanities, social sciences and economics Ч 1275 hrs.; natural sciences Ч 729 hrs.; preclinical and paraclinical disciplines Ч 3 919 hrs.; special (clinical) Ч 2 332 hrs.; chosen by the University Ц 428 hrs; specialization Ч 562 hrs. The issues of ecology, products quality and safety in curricula have been elucidated in such disciplines: Veterinary Ecology, Veterinary Sanitary Expertise, Technology and Standardization and within the specialization in the same disciplines.
Total training time under the specialist’s program is 9 245 hrs. The standard training period since 1/09/2000 is 5 years and 6 months (for obtaining a Junior Specialist’s Degree (specialty code: 7.13020201) Ч 3 years and 10 months); for graduates from technical schools the period is 3 years and 10 months.
The specialist’s training program provides performance of 13 term papers, 18 teaching practical works and 1 field study. After completion of the Specialist’s training and professional program, the state attestation procedure provides taking a state examination and defeating a relevant specialist’s degree thesis (Diploma Work).
